About Independence Square & Black Star Gate
Independence Square was built for Ghana's independence celebrations and is still the stage for national parades. The Black Star Gate, topped by the star that appears on the national flag, is one of the most photographed landmarks in Accra. It sits close to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, so the two are easy to combine.
