About Odwira Festival
Odwira is a week of purification and thanksgiving for the Akuapem people. It includes rites to honour the ancestors, the lifting of a ban on eating new yams, and a grand durbar where the paramount chief appears in full regalia. Akropong is about an hour from Accra.
