About Homowo

Homowo means 'hooting at hunger'. The Ga people remember a time of famine and celebrate the harvest that ended it. Chiefs sprinkle kpokpoi, a dish made from corn and palm oil, through the streets, and there are processions, drumming and family gatherings across the Ga towns of Accra.
