About Damba Festival

Damba is celebrated by the Dagomba and other peoples of northern Ghana around the birth of the Prophet Muhammad. Chiefs ride out on decorated horses, drummers and dancers fill the streets, and the celebrations in Yendi and Tamale are especially grand. Because it follows the Islamic calendar, its date moves each year.
