About Bakatue Festival
Bakatue marks the start of the fishing season in Elmina. After rites on the Benya lagoon, chiefs are carried through the streets in palanquins and decorated canoes take part in a regatta. It is one of the most photogenic festivals on the coast, held right beside Elmina Castle.
