About Aboakyer Deer Hunting Festival
Aboakyer is the festival of the Effutu people of Winneba. Two traditional warrior companies, the Asafo groups, compete to be first to catch a live antelope with their bare hands and present it to the chief. The day is full of drumming, singing and colourful processions through the town.
