Farms and forest in the Ahafo Region

Ahafo Region

Ahafo Region · Forests · Rocks · Rare birds

Forested hills around Goaso and Mim, with rock outcrops, a lake and rare rock fowl in the forest.

About Ahafo Region

Ahafo is one of Ghana's smallest and newest regions, with Goaso as its capital. Around Mim you can climb rocky outcrops for views over cashew and cocoa farms and visit the lake. In the forests, the rare white-necked rock fowl nests under overhanging rocks, a sight birdwatchers travel a long way for. In November, the Adekyem festival is held in Bechem.

Travel tips

Facilities for visitors are limited. Combine Ahafo with Kumasi or Sunyani, which have more places to stay.
